Lessons from the Ants

           Lessons from the Ants

The wisest king who ever lived once offered a piece of prudent advice in one of his poetries. The need to study an intricate yet cooperative social organization called ants. You might wonder and ask, are there instructive lessons to learn from this "small thing" called ant? Could observing this relatively insignificant group called ant help acquire wisdom? Why would a sage monarch to wit, Solomon recommend ant as a case study? This blog post will help answer these questions. You are reading a piece inspired by the video uploaded.

In the early hours of Wednesday, sitting close to the wall in the laboratory, I saw a great scene that captivated me. Behold, there was considerably a large company of ants dragging the corpse of a moth across the laboratory wall. My attention was drawn to these supposedly small ants as they pulled over the wall the big moth. I was wonderstruck by this interesting scene. On the spot, I remembered the saying of this sapient king, "A living dog is better than a dead lion". What relation could the saying have to do with the scene of the insects and the moth?

"A living dog is better than a dead lion."

The moth could no longer spread its wings and fly like before, while the insects could drag the moths across the wall. The distinguishing factor is the fact that the insect is living and the moth dead. You are reading this blog because you still have your breath in you. And as a result, there is hope for you. Discouragement and despondency are not a winner's mentality. A tree cut down halfway will grow again if the necessary condition for its growth is available. As long as you have your breath in you, be optimistic.

Is your Vision bigger than You?

What wowed me in the video was that this little insect went for a moth whose size could swallow them. In terms of being hefty, the ants are no match for the moth. I wonder if your childhood dream is bigger than you. Those brilliant ideas, the beautiful thoughts you had about yourself. Did you dream of taking a tour around the globe? Were you interested in becoming an international motivational speaker? Ever envisioned hosting a television show? Did you desire to become a captain of industry? Did you imagine becoming a prime minister like Joseph in Egypt? For more insight, could you read my blog on purposeful living?  https://bit.ly/3E7aeG7

Go after your dream. Pursue it! Every human has a gift given to them daily, including you, my amiable reader. It is the precious jewel called time. Time will reveal the achievement of these stunning dreams. You must have heard the saying, "a lost time is never recovered". Ants are busy with preparation, gathering their food during summer and in winter do not need to worry. Living life becomes interesting if you know what to do with your time.

The preparation phase is indispensable to fulfilling your dream. As far as success is concerned, you will only walk into its reality if only you have plans for it. Success will remain a mirage to you if you fail to strategize on achieving success in any endeavour. Imagine as an undergraduate student you never planned to own a car. As such, there is no thought or plan to work or save for this purpose. A man who never planned to own an estate will not see the need to buy a large expanse of land and build structures on it.

Here is the key towards reaching your desired future, being consistent in little things you do now that are relevant to your dream. I'd advise you to study consistently for 2 hours daily before an exam rather than crash read a few days before the exam. Pray 1 hour or 50minutes every day, instead of praying for 24 hours once a month. It's like a seed that is sown, which is nurtured to grow into a stately tree. Go after your dream. Pursue it! Consistency will take you there. Proverbs 30:24-25:

24 There be four things which are little upon the earth, but they are exceeding wise: 25 The ants are a people not strong, yet they prepare their meat in the summer; (KJV)

Unity and Teamwork

Have you ever seen an anthill? It will awe strike you how these ant's team up to build their abode. The results achieved by these insects are incredible and classic. They all work to achieve a common goal. With the big dream ahead of you, it is interesting to know that there are people who might also be heading towards the same destination as you. Those who have the same mindset, practical system of ethics as you and are willing to sacrifice for the course of this dream. Learn to synergize with people having the values mentioned earlier. The scriptures put it so well "if you journey with the sage, you will be wise".

Historically, during the primitive age, all men spoke a language. In the process of time, they all agreed to build a city and a tower whose top reaches heaven. They started the journey of building the city and the tower. Now the king of heaven became aware of men's plot, and they were infringing the migration rules of heaven. As a result, the Monarch of heaven decided to mystify their language, and the project halted. The lesson in this story is that unity plays an important role in bringing a dream bigger than you to reality. Just like the ants teamed up to drag the moth, join the right association that will help bring your dream to life.
